Two friends and I were very fortunate to have full access to Santa Crus Island. Off the coast of Santa Barbara and part of the Channel Islands. The fact the this place is still protected is incredible, and I believe close to 97% of it still is by the Nature Conservancy. We stayed in the scientist cabins and hiked for miles each day, including an off road trip across the island in an old Land Cruiser. Basically, it’s an island that hasn’t changed much in 150 years and is very well protected, pristine, and unparalleled.
